Short summary of the idea: Add items that are identical to books but are one-use and give you skills into maintenance. Should be just about as rare as strange objects. Possible implementation[Optional unless asked by staff][/B:] Comments: Basically the idea is summed up in the summary; make books that give randomized skills drop in maintenance. All I have to add is my ideas for the books, which is really long so I put it in a spoiler format. Spoiler: My Ideas Spoiler: Self Defense for The Brutal Gives you a random single martial art move. Just stuff like a punch that has a half second action, but deals more damage. You could also do things like the wrestling belt that take advantage of the environment. Spoiler: Dodging Attacks Could give a 50% projectile dodge chance and 30% melee dodge chance. This could be a little simple, though… someone could probably improve on this but I don’t know how. Spoiler: The Joy of Frying Could make all meals you craft heal more. Also, you could become adept enough to achieve the legendary double-fry technique. Spoiler: Competitive Racing Could make you run faster at the cost of fast stamina reduction. Basically strained muscles. Security will never be able to keep up with literal sonic! Spoiler: Hacking for Dummies There are a few different ideas I had for this: A: Examining doors lets you see the function of ⅓ of it’s wires. Which wires are shown are randomized at roundstart. B: Lets you multitool straight through protective panels. Spoiler: Escaping Kidnappers Speeds up your uncuffing x3. It would also be useful if it allowed you to have a low chance of making someone dragging you in cuffs let go of you. Spoiler: Pitching Baseballs Makes rng on throwing stun items much more favorable, like at least 75%. This could let you make ranged arrests against double e-sworders. Maybe it could also increase chance of embeds? Spoiler: Covert Hypnosis Golly this one gets a bit convoluted. Saying certain codewords and getting certain responses raises the responders “trance” value. This goes down over time. There are other codewords that have a chance of causing an effect when said, but trance value has to be raised or their chance is zero. If you want to get really complicated, you could make it so that there was a codeword that let you tie the effect of a codeword to a random other word, and it would always work regardless of trance, but only if the chance for both the tying codeword and the effect succeed. Spoiler: How to Maintain a Garden Everytime you use a botany tool to successfully interact with a plant, you boost it’s stats a little bit. This eventually caps off because there’s only so much you can do without running out of weeds, but I imagine a good botanist could pair this with gaia fueled trays to make maxstat killer tomatoes.
